Why your progress stalled

Picture this:

You’re working out 3-5 days / week

You started on a diet

You go on walks every day

And… nothing is working! You aren’t seeing any progress with your goals and you’re feeling really frustrated.

This is a really common experience for many women over the age of 35. Either everything you’ve done in the past isn’t working how it used to, or after starting some new habits, you aren’t seeing the results you want. You start to think that either you’re not working hard enough or that you’re an anomaly and these just don’t work for you.

Hear me when I say, if this is you, you’re discipline is not the issue and your body is not the problem. When your body starts to go through perimenopause (typically between ages 35 and 45), it experiences a myriad of symptoms, some minor, some major. With physical health, we need to look at the structure you are using rather than the discipline to figure out how to reach your goals .

If the structure doesn’t match with what your body can handle and adapt to, you won’t see the progress you would like. Looking at the structure is more than just the workouts, it includes:

  • Workout intensity and frequency

  • Recovery time

  • Work and life stresses

  • Nutrition and timing

  • Sleep habits

These all will be determinants for how well you can adapt to the work you are doing and how efficiently you will achieve your goals.

If in the beginning of this you felt like that was you, look at your structure and see if it supports your progress or if it hinders it.

This will give you direction on what to adjust so that you can actually start seeing results and feeling better.
